Step 2: Adaware Software

This is your guide to installing and running Adaware Software. You will find a free adaware se download link and instructions on how to use the program. Download.com is a great place to get free adaware software plus a lot of other free software. The free adaware software (in my opinion) is all you need from the company and there is no need to purchase it. The program will never expire and is easy to setup and run. This is one of the tools we will use each month (or week) to clean out our spyware. It will be our first tool to use and the reason that we run it first is because it will remove most of our major spyware problems. The other programs will run a lot easier if a large portion of the spyware is already removed. If you already have the free Adaware software then you can skip the installation instructions and go right to the Running Your Free Adaware Software part.

Download and Installation of Adaware Software

1. Download Adaware software here: Free Adaware SE Download
2. If you save it you must go and open the setup file (aawsepersonnel.exe), if you choose run it will start automatically.
3. Click through the screens as described below:
   1. Pick Anyone can use it
   2. Click Finish and leave all the checks. It will open a help file, an update file (which will update the definition list), and after that is complete it will run your first scan!! Yah!

Running Your Free Adaware Software

1. To run the program, double click the icon in your Spyware Programs folder.
2. If it says your definitions are old then say YES to update it. This will keep it current. (Click Yes then on the next screen click Connect, then click Ok -> Finish.
3. Now the console pops up, click Start and Scan Mode select Perform Full System Scan.
4. Click Next and you are going to scan your pc.  Scan Away, Scan Away!!!
5. When the Next Button is highlighted the scan is done. (It may take 5-10 minutes depending on how many files it has to scan through.)
6. Now under Target families detected on this system, go through and click all those checkboxes. If you want to select them all, right click on the first entry and select, Select all objects.
7. Hit Next at the bottom and then when the small screen pops up hit Ok.
8. And there you have it, you are semi clean.

Most people think that after running one scan with the Adaware software that they are done and everything is gone. But that is wrong my friend and thats why the Spyware fix uses a group of programs to combat spyware. Each program looks for and detects different spyware. We like to use the free Adaware software first because it gets a good load of spyware off of your computer.
