Step 6: Startup Inspector
The last two programs we are going to install are the Startup Inspector and Windows Startup Monitor. First we will look at the Startup Inspector. Every time you start your computer, programs are automatically started. This results in a slow window startup because these programs steal the resources (power) of your computer. This Startup Inspector is a window startup manager and helps you pick the important start-up programs and delete the unnecessary ones from the start-up list. You can edit window startup manually but the Startup Inspector will give you information on what programs are important and which ones aren’t. It is simple to install and run. Lets roll.
Installation of the Startup Inspector
1. Download the Startup Inspector here: Startup Inspector
2. If you save it you must go and open the setup file (isw2.exe), but if you choose to run it, it will start automatically.
3. Click through the screens like this:
- Next -> Next -> Next -> Install -> Finish (If you keep the checkbox check, a small text document will open and describe the program. Check it out if you like but you can just close it.)

Setting Up and Running the Window Startup Inspector
Lets run this puppy and clean up those start-up items. Say goodbye to a slow window startup!
- Click on the yellow icon on your desktop.
- Go to the top and click the Consult button (This will check your startup items and tell you if they are important. It goes out to the Internet, so if you are not connected to the Internet it will not work.)
- Uncheck the items that you do not need. DO NOT uncheck the items with a star next to them. These are important and need to be running on your machine at startup.
- After you are done removing the checks from the unwanted items select Apply and then Ok.
And that’s it. The items that you removed the checks from will no longer run at startup. The window Startup Inspector will in turn make your PC faster because all those unwanted programs aren’t running. The Startup Inspector is a great way to edit window startup and is a vital part of the Spyware fix.
