Step 7: Startup Monitor
The Startup Monitor is the last program to the Spyware fix. The Startup Monitor for windows helps keep programs from adding themselves to the startup of your computer. For example, a spyware program might try to add itself to the startup programs, so when you computer starts, it will be running without you even knowing. So when a program decides to install itself on your machine into the startup programs, the Startup Monitor will ask you if you want it to install. It is a great piece of software because many of these vicious programs will install themselves into startup without your consent. It is a great monitor program against unwanted software. It's easy to install and runs in the background without affecting the performance of your computer. The free computer monitoring program is simple to install and run, and all you’ll see is a small icon next to your clock.
Installation of Startup Monitor
1. Download the Startup Monitor here: Startup Monitor for Windows
2. If you save it you must go and open the setup file (wsi-mon1.exe), and if you choose run it will start automatically.
3. Click through the screens as described below:
- Next -> Next -> Next -> Next (Keep this box checked) -> Install -> Finish (If you keep the checkbox checked the program will start. If not double click the icon on the desktop or next to the clock.)

Setting Up Startup Monitor
Lets set this totally awesome program up.
- Click on the little green icon with an arror next to the clock on your desktop if the Startup Monitor hasn’t started.
- When the screen pops up make sure all the boxes are CHECKED. This is important so the program starts by itself and click Ok.
- A screen will pop up click on Yes.
This is the screen you will see when a program wants to run at startup. **This time it is asking if you want this program, Startup Monitor to run at startup. We do so click Yes.
And that’s it. The Startup Monitor is a great monitoring program that runs silently in the background.
