Follow these steps below to turn on and use Microsoft Automatic Update:

1. Go to the start menu and click the Control Panel.

2. Double click Automatic Updates.

3. Now choose one of these options:

This option will install and download the Microsoft updates for your PC without you doing anything. This is the easiest choose on your end.

Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them.

This option will download the update and you’ll see a little yellow shield next to the clock when they are ready to be installed. You’re in control of when the installation of the updates begins.

Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them.

Here you’ll see a little green shield when new updates are ready to be downloaded. Once downloaded, you’ll have to choose when to install them.

4. After you picked your option click Apply -> Ok.
